Resurfacing....and finding my way home

Well.....it's been a process coming up for air and learning to accept and embrace my new life. So much has changed since the last post...a 16-year relationship has ended, a new one has begun, inner demons have surfaced and are battled with constantly, but the one thing that remains the same is the travel.
Looking back at the year we've had some fun travel experiences ~ Dallas/Fort Worth, Munich, Sitges, London, South Africa, and we're now looking forward to New Zealand in September! On a business front, it's been the US and India, coming up is more India, US, and Costa Rica.

We're currently enjoying the gorgeous spring weather of Amsterdam and are spending as much time outside in the fresh air and sunshine as possible. Here's a picture from our living room windows:

Stay tuned for more frequent (and hopefully entertaining) posts!

Terminal delays (better known as just another afternoon at the airport)

Ahhhhh....well, another quick trip to the US, for work this time. Sad to head out, but glad that this is a quick turn-around.

It is always difficult to leave when you are starting something new, the pre-departure blues are a real bitch. This time around I hope to get my priorities right and balance my travel and home life.

Ah, well....off to catch the first segment of my journey.

Back to life

Well - that was a long hiatus....am back to life and trying to get into the swing of things. Too much has happened over the past six weeks - some major life changes and an opportunity to focus on me.

This past weekend we went to Munich for a couple of days to escape reality and (obviously) sampled the local products! Quite tasty....

Home......

Ahhhhh - it's good to be back home where the weather allows you to have the windows open and the breeze flowing through!

The flights home were uneventful...slept 7 hours on the first flight and was glad the next one was only 45 minutes. Our arrival in Amsterdam was quick (for a change) as they had our flight land near the terminal...normally the Dutch have the Lufthansa flight land out in the Polder (reclaimed land) runways and this adds about an extra 15-20 minutes to your taxi time. I wonder if there's any left over...um...issues from WWII.

Ah well - the Husband arrives tomorrow...as long as the severe weather in DFW goes through quickly, I'll meet him at the airport and then a busy workday...the good thing is that we're on vacation for the next two weeks! (gotta love living in Europe)

Whirlwind

WOW - the past five days have flown by here in DFW...am relaxing at the airport before boarding the flight home. We have probably each gained 15lbs given the amount of TexMex and margaritas/swirls/beers ingested....but it was all worth-while. We didn't get a chance to see all the friends we wanted, but had a BLAST with the ones that we did...and we can even remember what happened the next day.

I'm heading home a day early with a few extra bags, the hubby follows tomorrow - this gives me time to unpack, do laundry, and most importantly ... get the replacement iPhone.

As is typical when I travel, the weather has gone south and promises to give me some excitement both leaving DFW and arriving into Amsterdam. However - we are forecasted to have GREAT weather in Amsterdam for Saturday for the wedding and PRIDE (pictures will be forthcoming).

Well - signing off and getting ready to launch up to my bed in the sky and (hopefully) sleep all the way home.

Heading to Texas

Well - no major issues with the flights home yesterday (thank baby cheeses). A quick turn-around as I'm off to Dallas/Fort Worth in the morning for several days with the Husband - we'll be home on Friday as a colleague is getting married to his boyfriend on Saturday...not to mention the big PRIDE canal parade to watch.

The only thing we really miss from DFW is good TexMex...Amsterdam has some decent Mexican restaurants, but nothing can replace Uncle Julio's and their swirls! I think we'll also be frequenting Lucky's for breakfast...I might have to go on a major diet when we get back as we've got meals booked with friends every day.

Naar huis gaan! (or...going home!)

Ahhhh - the whirlwind trip to Bangalore is drawing to a close and I'm heading home early in the morning for a day...then off to Texas to meet up with the Husband and close out some items on the house.
It's been a crazy past two weeks...culminating in an educational video shoot at the office. While I have no issues standing in front of my colleagues or strangers to talk about various subjects, the camera just made me freeze up. I hate to think of how many takes we had this afternoon...all I could picture in my mind was the TV show 'Bloopers'. I'm looking forward to the end result and will post some stills once we've finalised the edits.
330am will come much too quickly.....but at least I will have a flat seat on the plane and can sleep for the duration!
